We would like to congratulate all of the Karate Ontario athletes, officials and volunteers with their great performance at the Ontario Summer Games. This is largest multi-sport event for junior athletes (ages 11-22) in Ontario (has been held every 2 years since 1970). This year, the Ontario Summer Games were played across Greater Sudbury (August 10th-13th) and featured 32 official sports (around 3000 competitors in total). Each sport was conducted by its respective PSO (provincial sport organization) which determined all of the formats, rules, regulations and qualification processes. Karate took part in this event for the first time in many years. Karate Ontario selected the age group 14-15 to represent the sport in this event. In total there was 64 selected athletes chosen from Province to compete in this karate event (consisting of three separate divisions: kata, team kata and kumite). Our club was represented with 8 competitors. Some of these athletics faced their biggest test to this moment…while others were already National level athletes. Despite this,   all competitors enjoyed this great multi-sport event experience and put forth 100% in performance and dedication. One more time, congratulations to our clubs members!
